About the event
This course is designed to provide advocates with the skills needed to be successful in the anti-trafficking field. Advocates will learn the skills that will enable them to understand how advocate for and work with victims and law enforcement. Students will learn:
How to recognize the indicators of a possible human trafficking incident
How to ascertain if a party is a victim of human trafficking and best practices for interactions
The signs of trauma bonding and PTSD
How use a victim centered approach (Special Victims Methodology)
Learn to navigate emergency services for trafficking victims
Learn how to help victims into shelters, programs, rehabilitation and other services
How to transport victims for services around the country
What the various multi-disciplinary groups are, how to use them and how to work with victims
Understand where victims come from and how they are groomed
Understand how to be embedded with law enforcement at operations
Audience: Advocates, medical, prosecutors, CPS, probation and law enforcement
