This course equips police officers with the skills necessary to detect indicators of human trafficking victims in the course of their every day duties, and how to conduct successful human trafficking investigations.

About the event
This course is designed to provide law enforcement and other multidisciplinary team members with the signs and indicators of possible trafficking victims in the course of their everyday duties, and how to conduct trafficking investigations that produce results.
Day 1 Human Trafficking Interdiction (prerequisite to Days 2 and 3)
Day 2 Proactive Human Trafficking Operations (including 11 different operations from start to end)
Day 3 Illicit Massage Business Investigations (an in depth class on how to lead and develop robust investigations to shut down IMBs long term)
Among many other things, attendees will learn:
• How to recognize the indicators of a possible trafficking incident (and how often this is missed even by well trained professionals)
• How to ascertain if a party is a victim of trafficking and best practices for interactions
• How to effectively use a victim centered approach
• How to identify the best evidence to build a successful trafficking case
• How to transition from a routine call or interview to a human trafficking investigation
• What the various multi-disciplinary groups are, how to use them and how to work with victim advocates
Audience: Active Law Enforcement, Probation & Parole, Forensic Interviewers, Nurses, Doctors, Prosecutors, CPS and Human Trafficking Advocates.
All three days of the training cover different material. Day 1 is a prerequisite to Days 2 and 3. Day 2 covers over 11 different proactive operations, and Day 3 is an in depth training on Illicit Massage Businesses. There is no repeat material so if you can attend all three days, please do so. If you can only attend two days, you must attend Day 1 and select from Day 2 or 3. If you DO NOT plan to attend all 3 days, please add a note when you fill in your agency when registering).
