About the event
This class is designed for police officers and detectives that will be investigating human trafficking incidents and conducting human trafficking investigations. The student will understand the investigative response to different types of human trafficking cases and incidents, how to collect evidence necessary, where this evidence originates, to include from vehicles, residences, hotels, surveillance video, telephones, interviews, and other sources. Conducting the follow-up or full human trafficking investigation can be a complex, resource intensive and confusing for many officers, so having a good working understanding and knowledge of human trafficking and how to properly investigate these types of crimes in critical. Understanding and utilizing a victim centered, or Special Victims Methodology approach is also key in obtaining disclosure information from a victim and more importantly not re-victimizing the victim, which will assist in the victim’s recovery and any future criminal prosecution.
