About the Course
This comprehensive program is designed to provide the front lines with the signs and indicators of possible human trafficking victims in the course of their everyday duties, and how to conduct an initial investigation into this crime. This is HTTC’s foundational class upon which all our other trafficking courses are built — but note that this is far more comprehensive than a typical trafficking “101” class. No matter how much you know about trafficking, this class will provide you new tools and strategies, with specific steps for implementation, to put your new skills into practice immediately upon walking out of the class.
Attendees will learn:
Understand where victims come from, how they are groomed, and how to generally recognize the indicators of a human trafficking incident, including the signs of trauma bonding and PTSD.
How to ascertain if a party is a victim of human trafficking and best practices for interactions.
How to effectively use a victim centered approach based on our proprietary Special Victims Methodology(TM) techniques.
How to identify electronic evidence of trafficking on cell phones and elsewhere, including how to use technology to do so.
How to transition from a routine call or interview to a human trafficking investigation and when it is appropriate to do so.
How to best interview a possible suspect in a human trafficking case.
The differences between trafficking and other crimes which are often confused by law enforcement, and how ensure your agency is not making those mistakes.
What the various multidisciplinary groups are, how to use and vet various players including victim advocates.
